One of Cesar Chavez's accomplishments as a civil right activist was making the Delano, California growers, pay the right amount of money the farm worker deserved.
He was the first person in America to make a collective bargain agreement contract with growers and farm workers.
He got the first union contracts requiring rest periods, clean drinking water, hand washing stations, and protective clothing against pesticide exposure for all the farm workers.
He got the first health benefits for all farm workers and their families. On August 8, 1994, his family received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Bill Clinton.
